DrMaster was established as a computer consulting company in 1992. We offered professional software training and service to Taiwan's corporations. Then, in 1994, we became a publishing company in the field of information technology.

Milestones of DrMaster

May/1992

DrMaster was established as the first professional software consulting company in Taiwan. The major tasks are to penetrate the domestic market, to develop Manderinised software (in cooperation with Microsoft Taiwan), and to offer consulting service to other corporations.

Sept./1992

DrMaster was moved to No. 88, Sec. 5, Nanjing E. Rd., Taipei, Taiwan 105, R.O.C. We edited more than 20 titles on the user's guide of Windows.

Mar./1993

DrMaster was moved to 5Fl., No. 252, Sec. 5, Nanjing E. Rd., Taipei, Taiwan 105, R.O.C.

May/1994

DrMaster was moved to 3F, 135, Pateh Road Sec. 4, Taipei, Taiwan. and became a publishing company in information technology. User's guides of Windows related software were the major publications. Outstanding edition and printing quality appeal to the readers, and put DrMaster in the leading position among other competitors. We authorized Nung Hsueh Co., Ltd. as our sale agent. Mr. Hsu was assigned as the main editor.

Apr./1995

DrMaster was moved to 7F, 135, Pateh Road Sec. 4, Taipei, Taiwan. and was renamed as DrMaster Press Co., Ltd. In December, the unprecedented full-color printed Windows 95 Chinese Edition set up the new era for IT press.

Mar./1997

DrMaster was expanded. A TaiChung branch was opened to extend our business in middle and southern Taiwan.

Jul./1997

An output film machine was installed to enhance printing quality and to facilitate publishing processes. All editing and designing were conducted directly on computer platform.

Jan./1998

Company headquarter was set up at East Tech Park in Shijr. At the meantime, Mr. Lin was designated as the president.

Apr./1998

Mr. Wu Jo-Chuan, a management consultant and best-selling writer, was invited to be our counselor. He was in charge of organizing managerial hierarchy and product R&D.

Jan./1999

DrMaster collaborated with Japan's Impress Group on our first title in computer application.

Jul./1999

Mr. Hsu Harry was promoted as vice-president. In the same year, two titles won the award of “Best-commended book for children and teenagers” from the Government Office. They were “Windows 98 Chinese version- I Can Do” and “Fly Your Dream with Internet”.

Jan./2000

We have raised funds to about NT$ 51 million in the first stage, and are ready to expand our business to the sphere of non-computer books.

Dec./2000

On going to complete the expending venture capital project, including of traditional publish, internet media, publishing production…etc. We also enter into alliance with channel delivery industry.

Jan./2001

DrMaster is operating like a conglomerate, involved in different types of press markets, and set up a perfect stage for someone with creativity and planning in publish.

張國威 Herbert Chang /Chairman

Herbert Chang is a General Partner at InveStar Capital, Inc., a technology venture capital management firm based in Taiwan. Since 1996, InveStar Capital has been an active venture investor in the semiconductor, telecommunications & networking, software, and Internet industries both in the Silicon Valley of USA and in Taiwan. Presently the Fund under management is over 180 million U.S. dollar, the fund assets reaches 1 billion U.S. dollar. Mr. Herbert Chang sits on the boards of directors of several hi-tech companies, including Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL) and Oplink Communications (NASDAQ: OPLK), both with over 5 billion market valuation. Before founding InveStar Capital, Herbert was a Senior Vice President at WK Technology Fund. Herbert got his MBA degree from National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan in 1986 and a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1984.

邰中和 Kenneth Tai /Director

Kenneth Tai has been the Chairman of InveStar Capital (Taiwan), Inc., a venture capital firm with USD$180 million capital and more than one hundred portfolio companies since its establishment in 1996. Since April 1998, he also has served as the Chairman of DigiTimes Publication, Inc., a daily electronic newspaper reporting on technology issues in Taiwan. From March 1993 to December 1995, Mr. Tai served as the Vice-Chairman of UMAX USA, which makes computer peripherals. Mr. Tai was one of the co-founders of the Acer Group, and held various positions including Vice President of worldwide Sales and Marketing and the President from 1990 to March 1993. Mr. Tai received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan and a Master in Business Administration from Tamkang University in Taiwan.

Graduated from the National Chan-Chi University, major in Business Management.

He is famous TV and Radio speaker in Taiwan.

林宏諭 Lin Hung Yu/CEO

1991-1995 Worked as a professional consultant for Microsoft Taiwan to help their marketing department to develop and promote the Chinese version of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office series products. And then, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office series products got really high market share in Taiwan.

1991 Published the first Excel application book in Taiwan. During the past 10 years , he published more then 30 titles in high technologic book market. Especially, the Project management series books are the most famous.

1998 Got the Doctor of Business Administration in Management Science degree from Tamkang University in Taiwan.

1998 Works as the general manager for DrMaster Co., also the vice professor for Business Administration department of Jin Wen-Institute of Technology.

Mr. Lin is one of the best professional managers in E-century. He is the expertise at operating analysis and business management.

許耀豪 Yao Hao Hsu /General Manager

1991 Graduated from Information Management Department of Tamkang University in Taiwan. During 1991-1995 worked as a professional consultant for Microsoft Taiwan.
